NLP( Neuro Linguistic Programming)
for resolving health problems.
Can a talking therapy really influence our physically health?
We all recognise how our health
can be affected by many factors, although sometimes we may forgot this
and focus our attention on one particular area for solutions to our health
issues. This is especially clear, for example, when considering our digestive
system or energy levels which are often considered primarily from a dietary
point of view
and yet we have all probably
had the experience of noticing how emotional stress, for example, affects
our digestion either first hand or through observing how busy the toilets
are just before exams or interviews.
Current thinking in medicine
is that in order to resolve a health issue we may need to pay attention
to those areas of our health that we might not immediately expect to be
contributing of our problems.
NLP is particularly interested
in how well the communication systems between the various parts of the
body are working.
The digestive system, in common
with all other parts of the body is particularly influenced by the instructions
it gets from the brain.
The brain controls the health
of the digestive system through constantly monitoring and adjusting;
· the amount of nutrition
it gets
· the speed at which
any damaged or worn out parts are replaced
· the amount and frequency
of stomach acid and other digestive juices production
· the efficiency of
the immune system, which drains excess fluid from the tummy and protects
from infection
· recognition of food
substances as safe or irritant, producing intolerances and allergies
The decision your brain makes
are based on information from your digestive system and from any past
experience which has some relevance to digestion. If these instructions
are in some way inappropriate, incomplete or based on mistaken information
then the effects can range from uncomfortable to devastating.
NLP looks at these glitches
in the communication between your brain, digestive system and the rest
of the body, identifying the causes of and solutions to these errors.
Most of these errors are based on experiences you had at formative stages
of your childhood, and are often not memories that you either have much
awareness of or thought were particularly important; in fact often the
significance of these events to you as an adult is minute compared to
the importance they had for you, as a child.
When we thought the world was
flat rather than round we built our lives around that "fact";
so we didnt even bother to go too far out to sea because we already
knew we would fall over the edge if we did. This kept us safe, but also
ignorant of the wonders of far off lands with their exotic harvests and
medicinal plants.
Identifying and resolving these
difficulties allows the digestive system and the brain to be communicate
effectively and normal function to be resumed.
